Autumn Date Night Ideas: This season is truly the best

Valentine’s Day falls in February, and mistletoe is out in December. But I can prove that fall is actually the most romantic time of the year. You can cuddle up under a blanket with a PSL (need I add more?). Think of cozy fires and beautiful scenery. If you don’t want to be a homebody and actually have fun with your partner, then here are some fall date ideas.

Carve pumpkins

All the best dates are driven by competition. You can have a contest for the best Jack-O’Lantern, or you can try to make a Jack-O’Lantern similar to the other. If you are not a professional pumpkin carver (does such a job exist?), then it’s unlikely that your carving will look anything like the other person’s. It’s doubtful that it will look like your partner, but it is still fun to watch the result.

Go apple picking

Apple picking? Fall? Didn’t you see this as one of our fall date suggestions? It’s because apple picking is on everyone’s bucket list this season. And it’s better to do it with your partner. Imagine the two of you alone walking through the orchard holding hands, enjoying an apple cider donut in the Lady and the Tramp fashion, and sharing a kiss between the apple trees. It sounds pretty perfect.

Enjoy a horror movie night at home.

I’m not a fan of anything scary. (I have trouble sleeping at night when I watch a burglar alarm advertisement, so I’m not interested in a scary film!) It’s a good excuse to snuggle up with your partner and squeeze them even tighter when the scary scenes occur. You might find it worth the nightmares. You can make your horror movie extra romantic by cooking a tasty autumn dinner and pouring wine or spiked apple cider. Also, comfort each other when you see the death of your best friend (why are they always walking into the woods on their own? ).

Visit a haunted home.

Hold on to your partner tighter (see above). It’s enough said. You can also check out the local haunted house for a fun date night idea. You can choose a haunted house that is geared toward children or a school in your area if you are looking for something more humorous. If you and your partner are both thrill-seekers who enjoy being scared, find the scariest haunted house in your area. Then make it a contest to see who can survive the longest without freaking out TF.

Visit a corn maze.

Even if you’re not a fan of the idea of a haunted kid’s house, a corn maze can be a fun activity for the whole family to enjoy in the fall. You can have a lot of fun and bond together by navigating a corn maze, whether you have one that is huge in your city or have never been to one before. You will inevitably get lost (or confused) a few times. You will inevitably get lost (or ten times!)

Visit a wine, cider, or beer tasting.

You and your date may not have anything in common. They might prefer action films, while you only watch romcoms. But chances are, you both enjoy cider, wine, beer, or walking through beautiful orchards or cool breweries and trying out the flavors of the season. This is a cool, unique, and perfect seasonally-timed date that you will not regret.

Enjoy a bonfire

What could be more romantic than a bonfire party? It’s possible to host a bonfire with your friends as a date idea, or you can set up a fire for the two of us. Nothing will get you in the mood to fall in love more than a crisp autumn night, starry skies, a cozy blanket, and a bonfire, except maybe those s’mores.

Tickets to a Football Game

Play a lighthearted and fun football game to show off your sporting side. You and your date will bond if you both root for the same team. You can also have a good time by rooting for the opposite team. This will create a fun, flirtatious atmosphere, and you won’t be able to lose, even if your favorite team wins. You can take it to the next level with an old-fashioned Tailgate. Serve chili, Bloody Marys, or your favorite Tailgate Food. It will be a fall date idea that you and your partner will enjoy every year.

Make or buy your Halloween costume.

You’ll have a lot of fun putting together a couple’s costume, whether you’ve been dating for years or this is your first Halloween as a couple. You can choose from a funny costume (such as an old couple, PB&J, or a mermaid and sailor), a chic one (Cruella de Vil and a Dalmatian, or a sailor and a mermaid), or a culturally relevant one (such as Barbie and Ken, Belly and Conrad or Kelsea Ballerini and Chase Stokes).

Make a pie or another Fall treat.

You may remember those apples that you picked during your amazing fall date. You can bake an apple pie or another tasty treat using the ingredients available in the fall. You can have fun, whether you are both great bakers and belong to the Great British Baking Show or only one of you knows what you’re doing. (And gets to share their secrets with the other) Or if neither of you know the difference between a spoon and a tablespoon. Enjoy the freshly baked goodies and snuggle up with a fall movie.

Fall Cocktails (or Halloween): Make your cocktails!

Need I say anything else? Mulled wine (or hot toddy), appletini, and apple cider bourbon are just a few of the many options! Cocktails (or mocktails) inspired by the fall season! You will feel cozy and warm (both inside and outside!) after drinking these cocktails. Why not make a few together at home? You can make fall cocktails by gathering all the ingredients you need and assembling them. You can earn bonus points by choosing two of the fall date ideas on this list and adding a Halloween spin to your fall cocktail. Then, you can bring them to a party dressed in matching costumes.
